Southern California summers can get HOT!
This week we have areas that are experiencing triple digits!
Anaheim’s forecast is in the nineties!!
As locals, we can beat the heat by going to the park in the evening. However, when we bring friends and family, we want everyone to get their moneys worth by spending the entire day.
Today we are sharing how we keep cool while spending the day at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.

Ice, Ice, Baby!
The first thing you should know is that you may bring a small soft-sided cooler into the parks. Pack it with frozen water bottles or use reusable icepacks to keep your bottles chilled. DRY ICE OR LOOSE ICE is NOT permitted into the parks. You CAN ask for a FREE cup of ice at any walk-up food service restaurant.
Save money by bringing along your own refillable water bottle. Walk-up restaurants will give you FREE cups of water and ice upon request, plus there are water fountains throughout the parks.
Keep your face cool and shaded with HATS!!!
If you are like the queen of our crew and want to wear your ears instead, bring along a parasol or umbrella!
Last summer we purchased cooling cloths and they have made a world of difference!!! We suggest ones that activate by running underwater.
Disneyland sells a mister/fan combo in the parks. Let us be the first to tell you that it is overpriced and a piece of crap. We have purchased two and they both broke within a few hours of use.
Don’t waste your money! You’ll have better luck with one of the following!
There are many shaded areas throughout the park to help you escape the sun’s wrath. There are also a few air-conditioned attractions that are great for escaping the heat!
Beat the heat in these attractions that have little to no wait time to enter!
- Mickey’s Main Street Cinema
- The Enchanted Tiki Room
- Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
- The Golden Horseshoe
- Animation Academy
The following water rides all come with a good chance of getting wet!
- Splash Mountain
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Grizzly River Run
